As a learning artist myself, I begin to see the true power and beauty of art. When art leaves a mark in your soul it could never be erased. This quote pretty much opened my eyes to see what else art is. Anyways, let's start getting to the contents of my artwork.
This week, our class was assigned to make a western classical inspired artwork. As I unravel through the history of art throughout the years and decades with the use of the internet. I have chosen one specific era of art, which isn't that simple to make but also isn't hard to create and it is the "Classical Greek Era". In that era of art, I have chosen vase painting, but instead of painting (which I don't have the skill to do) I just drew it on an illustration board.
You may ask "How did you make it?" well I just had the Patience and Determination to create my artwork (these are some of the values that you get to learn whilst making art). But really here are the clips on how I underwent on making this classical inspired artwork.
The Process

Note: Some of the steps are done off cam because my phone/cam battery died during the process.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First clip contains the shape of the vase (I drew it off cam) and the edge designs that makes the artwork Greek themed called "Meander" (is a decorative border constructed from continuous line shaped into a repeated motif).
Second clip contains how I drew the people in the vase and continued darkening the outline to emphasize it. You can also see that there is a notebook above my artwork which contains the draft of my artwork.
In the third clip I already colored the top and the bottom of the vase using oil pastels. I used a ball pen for emphasizing the edges of the vase. For the people, I used a yellow pentel pen with a combination of a black ball pen to give it a highlight and I also started coloring the person on the left with a yellow color pencil (the person on the right was colored off cam).
In the fourth and fifth clip I start and continue to color the vase with black oil pastel and a black color pencil. I also colored the Meander part on the top and on the bottom.
I call this piece "Guilt: Zeus punishes Sisyphus" based on one of my favorite Greek myths about the sly and deceitful King Sisyphus who angered the gods. As a result he was punished for eternity, rolling a boulder up a hill then when he reaches the top the boulder rolls back which forces Sisyphus to push it back up again.
